In chapter 14 of Exodus, the people of Israel had been freed from Egyptian slavery. But when they found themselves between the desert and the sea, with powerful Egyptian cavalry pursuing them, they felt absolute panic. They questioned Moses and wept, asking to return to slavery—because at least there they knew what to expect. Fear made them forget everything God had done just days before. How many times do we do the same when facing the unknown?
But notice Moses' response. He didn't minimize the danger or offer a human solution. He pointed to something greater: "The Lord will fight for you." This isn't religious naïveté. It's the profound truth that not every battle of your week will be won by your willpower or competence. Some battles require you to recognize your powerlessness and surrender to God's wisdom. When you're tired, when problems seem insurmountable, when you don't know where to start—that's the moment to stop fighting alone.
The key word here is "still." In Hebrew, it means to be at peace, to be motionless, to trust. It's not lazy passivity; it's active trust. You do your work with excellence because you know God is in control. You face the week with courage because you've understood that your limits are not God's limits. This is the true strength that will sustain you from Monday through Friday.
Today, as you begin your week, abandon the burden of having to solve everything alone. You have permission not to be enough—because the One who is with you is more than enough. Let this transform not just your attitude, but the way you work, love, and dream. The week that lies before you is not a mountain you need to climb alone; it's a path that God has already promised to open.
