"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: 'Everyone is looking for you!' Jesus replied, 'Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.' So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. Marcos 1:35-39"

Monday has arrived, and with it comes that familiar feeling: the week is beginning, tasks are piling up, commitments are waiting for you, and perhaps a tiredness that shouldn't even exist yet. But today we want to invite you to look at a secret that Jesus teaches us from dawn: true purpose is born in prayer before it explodes into action.
When Mark describes this moment, he shows us Jesus at the height of his popularity. Crowds sought him out, the sick wanted healing, everyone was looking for him. But Jesus did not allow external demand to define his day. He knew something essential: without connection to the Father, any work becomes merely exhausting activism. That's why, while it was still early morning, before the noise, the expectations, and the pressures, he sought solitude and prayer. It wasn't laziness; it was divine strategy.
What strikes us most is that after this morning communion, Jesus does not rest. He rises with renewed clarity about his purpose. When the disciples find him and say 'everyone is looking for you,' he doesn't flatter the crowd or try to satisfy every demand. Instead, he declares his true calling: 'Let us go somewhere else.' Jesus had discernment about where the Father was directing him, not just where people were pulling him. That is the difference between a reactive life and a life directed by purpose.
For your Monday, the message is clear: before answering every request, before scheduling every commitment, go to your desert place with God. It might be in the first minutes of the morning, during a lunch break, or during a coffee pause. Seek clarity in prayer. Discover whether you're working to please people or fulfilling the calling God has placed on your heart. Excellence in work does not mean doing everything people ask; it means doing with excellence what God has called you to do. This week, you don't need more energy or more hours. You need divine direction.
