"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

— 1 Peter 5:7

How many times have you woken in the middle of the night with your heart racing, your mind full of "what ifs." These are the worries that visit us in the quietest moments, the ones that keep us tossing and turning as we think about bills to pay, fragile relationships, and uncertainty at work. Anxiety is just as real as any physical illness, just as heavy as a stone carried on your shoulders throughout an entire journey.

Peter's letter was written to persecuted Christians, people who had very concrete reasons to be desperate. Their homes were threatened, their lives were at risk. But Peter does not minimize their feelings by offering a superficial solution. He acknowledges the legitimacy of anxiety and offers something deeper: the possibility of transfer. The Greek word "epirrhipto" literally means "to cast upon"—it is like unloading a heavy burden onto the shoulders of someone stronger. God does not ignore our worries; He invites us to place them where they belong—in His capable hands.

The challenge lies in recognizing that holding on to anxiety is, in fact, a veiled form of distrust. We do not say this consciously, but our patterns reveal it: we stay awake at night because we believe we must find the solution on our own. We keep ruminating on problems because, subconsciously, we fear that God will not act in time. But God says something different: He cares for you. Not merely in theory, but in concrete, present, constant practice. He does not sleep, does not forget, does not get distracted.

Surrendering anxiety is an act of faith renewed every day. It means waking up and saying: "Lord, this fear I feel when I think about the difficult conversation I have today—I leave it with You. This worry about my health, I place in Your hands. This financial fear, I surrender to You." It is not denying that the problems exist. It is recognizing that there is Someone greater than the problems. It is allowing yourself to breathe deeply because the burden has been transferred.

Today, as you walk out the door, carry with you this truth not as a beautiful theological concept, but as tangible relief. Anxiety will tell you that everything depends on you. Faith will whisper that everything is safe in the hands of God.

Prayer:

Beloved Father, I confess that many times I carry burdens that do not belong to me. Today, I lay the anxiety I feel at Your feet. Help me to truly believe that You care for me—not only in words, but with the peace that overflows in my heart. Enable me to live in trust, not in fear.

Deus não está longe. Ele está aqui, nesse momento, com você.
