"But if I go to the east, he is not there; if I go to the west, I do not find him. When he is at work in the north, I do not see him; when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him. But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. Jó 23:8-10"

— Jó 23:8-10

There are moments in our lives when we cry out to God and receive only silence. It is not an empty or indifferent silence, but a silence that weighs heavily, that questions, that makes us doubt whether we are still being heard. If you are experiencing this today, know that you are not the first to feel this anguish. Job, a righteous and devout man, experienced such profound agony that his pain transpires through every word he wrote.

Job faced not only material and physical loss, but the emptiness of being unable to locate God. He searched forward, backward, and to the sides. His search was sincere and desperate. His friends accused him of being wrong before God, as if divine silence were evidence of guilt. But Job knew there was something different: he knew his own heart. He had not committed an injustice that would justify such abandonment.

But notice something extraordinary in the midst of this darkness: "But he knows the way that I take." While Job could not see God, God saw perfectly the path of Job. Silence was not synonymous with absence. It was precisely the opposite. God was so close that He could see every step, every tear, every moment when that man continued to trust despite everything. And Job makes a confession that changes everything: "when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold." He was saying: "I trust that you know what you are doing. I will go through this furnace and emerge refined, not destroyed."

True faith is not the absence of doubt; it is the choice to trust when we have no visible reasons to do so. You may be in a process that God sees perfectly, even when you are blind to the purpose. Perhaps His silence today is more eloquent than any immediate answer could be. He is building something in you, refining your faith, preparing you for a level of intimacy with Him that you would not have achieved through ease. Do not give up. Your Father knows every detail of your path.

Following God with genuine faith means believing that He is orchestrating your story, even when the music sounds off-key to your ears. Today, when silence comes, take a deep breath and whisper: "Lord, you know my path. I trust that you are refining me for something greater." And believe it with every fiber of your being.

Prayer:

Holy Father, I acknowledge that I cannot always see Your hand in my life, and that frightens me. But today I choose to believe that You know every step of mine, every doubt, every tear. Refine me like gold, Lord. Use this time of silence to strengthen my faith and deepen my relationship with You. Amen.

Deus não está longe. Ele está aqui, nesse momento, com você.
