"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."
— Êxodo 14:14
There are moments in our lives when God's silence frightens us more than any storm. Have you ever gone through that season when you cried out and cried out, but it seemed as though heaven's doors were closed? That there was no answer, only a deafening void? This Wednesday, as we dedicate ourselves to prayer and intercession, we need to understand a revolutionary truth: God's silence does not mean God's absence.
In the context of Êxodo 14, the children of Israel were trapped between the sea and the Egyptian army. Moses had made his petition, the people had made their complaints, and now there was only... silence. But in that silence, God was ready to act in ways the human mind could not even imagine. The Lord did not respond with words at that moment; He responded with action. He was preparing a miracle that would be remembered for generations.
Often, in the silence, God is teaching us to trust beyond hearing. He invites us to rest in His wisdom when we do not understand His strategy. Silence is not rejection; it is often the prelude to a greater victory. When God is silent, it is because He is working in dimensions that we, limited by time and finite understanding, cannot yet see. He is operating behind the scenes of history, opening paths where there seems to be none, parting waters, moving circumstances, preparing the impossible.
If you are in a season of silence today, the calling is simple: be still as well. Not in the sense of hopelessness, but of trust. Let your soul rest in God. Set aside the anxiety of understanding everything and choose to believe that He who created the heavens and the earth has also created the solution to your problem. Your role is to rest in faith; the Lord's role is to fight for you.
God's silence is always an invitation to a deeper, more intimate, purer relationship with Him. When you cannot hear Him speak, you learn to feel Him act. And when He finally opens your waters—and He will—you will know that all that waiting was for your own glory and transformation.
Prayer:
Father, I confess that sometimes Your silence frightens me. But today I choose to believe that You are working while I keep silent. Teach me to rest in You, not only when I hear Your voice, but especially when I do not hear it. Give me courage to wait and wisdom to recognize Your action where my eyes cannot yet see. Amen.
