"Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, the one who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said."
— Matthew 28:5-6
Today is the most important day in the Christian calendar. Today we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. The cross was not the end. The tomb did not prevail. Death did not have the final word.
Imagine the scene: the women went to the sepulcher early in the morning, their hearts broken, carrying spices to anoint a dead body. But when they arrived, they found the stone rolled away and an angel with a message that would change the history of humanity forever: "He is not here. He has risen."
This is the message that sustains all our faith. If Christ had not risen, our faith would be empty, as Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:17. But He has risen! And because He lives, we also live. Every promise of God is confirmed in the resurrection.
What does the resurrection mean for your life today? It means that no situation is final. That which seemed dead can live again. The relationship that seemed destroyed, the health that seemed compromised, the dream that seemed buried — all can be restored by the same power that raised Christ from the dead.
Paul writes in Ephesians 1:19-20 that the same incomparable power that God exercised when He raised Christ operates in us who believe. You carry within you the power of the resurrection. No matter how deep the valley, the life of Christ in you is stronger.
On this Easter Sunday, allow this truth to renew your hope. The tomb is empty. Christ has won. And because He has won, you no longer need to be afraid. Death has been defeated. Sin has been paid for. Condemnation has been canceled. You are free.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank you for the cross and the empty tomb. Thank you because death did not defeat You. On this day of Resurrection, renew my faith and my hope. May the same power that raised You from the dead transform every area of my life that needs new life. I believe that You live, and because You live, I too can live fully. Amen.
