"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
— Provérbios 3:5-6
How many times do we wake up carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders? This Saturday, when the rhythm invites us to rest, we need to understand a transformative truth: we were not created to carry life's burdens alone. The anxiety that consumes us often springs from the illusion that we have control over everything. But the reality is that we control very little.
In the context of Proverbs, Solomon speaks to us of a wisdom that goes beyond human intelligence. When he says "trust in the Lord with all your heart," he is not suggesting a superficial or occasional trust. He is calling us to a deep rest, that which recognizes that God is infinitely wiser than we are. The following verse completes this: "lean not on your own understanding." This means that our logic, our plans, and our strategies, however intelligent they may seem, must be subject to a greater intelligence.
Life presents us with situations where absolutely no amount of worry solves the problem. Have you noticed this? An illness in the family, a tight financial situation, a relationship in crisis — in these moments, anxiety brings no solution, only steals our peace. God invites you to acknowledge him in all your ways. To acknowledge means to admit that He is there, that He sees, that He cares. And the promise is liberating: He will make your paths straight. It does not mean that everything will be easy, but that you will not walk alone.
The practical application of this is radical: choose today a worry that you have been carrying. The one that returns to your mind at night, that burns your energy during the day. Now, make a symbolic act of surrender. It can be writing it on paper and burning it, kneeling down and praying, or simply saying aloud: "Lord, I release this into your hands." Because letting go is not giving up — it is recognizing that there is a wisdom greater than mine.
This Saturday, rest knowing that you were made to trust, not to control. Your inner peace does not depend on having all the answers, but on knowing the One who holds them.
Prayer:
Father, today I acknowledge that I have tried to carry too much alone. Thank you for inviting me to rest in you. Help me to let go of control and to truly trust in your wisdom, even when I cannot see the way. May my heart rest in you this Saturday and in all my days. Amen.
